Rethinking the legacies of 1492

thumbnail 1492 1992

This event explores the legacies of 1492 and its anniversary in 1992. It consists of talks and a roundtable.

Speakers include Jerrilynn Dodds, Charlene Villaseñor Black, Giuseppe Marcocci and Tom Nickson.

It will consider 1992/3 events (and counter-events) including the exhibitions al-Andalus and Circa 1492, and the international expos held in Italy and Spain. More broadly, we will discuss the politicisation of the past and how the Quincentenary shaped the (art) histories we practice today.

Open to all - no booking required.  Old Library, All Souls College, University of Oxford.
