Translating Illness

The first Translating Illness blog post has been recently published. 'The Best Liar Among Us': On Poetry and Psychiatry is an inspiring, honest, and thought-provoking conversation between Dr Alvise Sforza Tarabochia, Senior Lecturer in Italian and Head of School of Cultures and Languages at the University of Kent, and Gloria Boeri, co-founder of Visualising Illness and DPhil candidate in History of Art at the University of Oxford. Alvise's and Gloria's intermediatic dialogue is their original response to, and development of, Translating Psychiatry, a video podcast featuring Alvise's research.

The blog post and video podcast explore the role and meanings of the Italian photobook against the background of the Basaglia Law, as well as the impact of the 'visual' on the evolution of the history, politics, and philosophy of mental health and illness.
