History of Art’s two Emeritus Professors have recently received some significant awards in honour of their outstanding contribution to their discipline.

In November 2024, Professor Martin Kemp received the insignia of Ufficale della Stella Italia for services to Italian culture. It was presented to him by the Italian Ambassador on behalf of the Italian President of the Republic at a ceremony in London.

Meanwhile, Professor Craig Clunas has been awarded one of three fellowships for 2025 by the Association for Art History, in recognition of his years of work on the arts of China.

We congratulate both of these colleagues and applaud their service and dedication to the practice of art history at the highest level.
