Echoes of Great Brightness:The Ming Dynasty and Beyond

On September 16 and 17 2025, an international conference featuring many of the world’s leading scholars of Chinese art was held at Lincoln College. Titled Echoes of Great Brightness:The Ming Dynasty and Beyond, the conference was organised by Professor JP Park to honour the many contributions to the field made by Professor Emeritus Craig Clunas.

Speakers ranged widely across the history of Chinese art, but all spoke with great affection and respect for the example set by the work of Professor Clunas. Clunas himself closed the conference with a deeply researched and stirring lecture about the importance of passing on knowledge to the next generation.
